Dr. visit for allergy

Still not much news. They drew some blood (which Morgan took better than I usually do) and are going to do some tests. Pending those results, we’re supposed to behave as if she has a severe allergy to all nuts (which is a bigger deal than you might think because nut oils and cross-contamination are everywhere).

We should have test results early next week.

Allergy update (no news)

The attending physician at the ER was impressed with her unmedicated recovery (she’s fine now), and said the next step is to take it up with her primary care pediatrician. We’ll see him on Thursday, though don’t expect to know anything then (we think he’ll refer us to an allergist; there are some tests that he could order himself with a blood draw, though the results of those would take days, also).

First trip to the ER

Posting live from Virginia hospital center (which we last visited for Morgans birth), she had an allergic reaction to some peanut butter (which she’s eaten regularly in the past). Though the facial swelling went away on the car ride over, we figured better safe than sorry right before bedtime… She seems fine now, which I think leaves us pretty low on the triage list, so we’re just hanging out in the waiting room. We failed to get any photos.

Language Development

Morgan has started inverting personal pronouns.  If you say ‘you are so funny,’ she’ll turn it around and say ‘I funny.’

She also knows directional terms.  “Look behind you” invokes the appropriate response.

And she has started stringing together Mommy & Daddy with other sentences. “Hi Mommy,” “Help please Mommy,’ and the like.

She’s a cutie.

Photos

Wow — I haven’t posted photos in about 2 months. The real dropoff has been on the photo-taking side, not the posting side. Morgan even had a visit from grandparents from South Dakota last week, and we failed to get any photos. I’ll try to pick back up in the Summer.

Getting bigger all the time

Morgan and I went mano-a-mano yesterday in an attempt to get her dressed for school.  I won, but barely (and only after Jim stepped in to help).  Needless to say, it wasn’t pretty.  So I decided we needed a new plan.

A particular point of contention yesterday was the wearing of the pants.  So today I let her pick her own pants.  She did.  And she started to put them on, got each leg in the correct pant leg, found her feet at the bottom and then promptly pulled them back off again (without every pulling them up over her bottom).  I told her she needed to be wearing pants before she went to school.  After about 5 minutes of running around, she decided to try it again and we got them on, no problem.  After that, everything else (the shirt, socks, and shoes) went quite smoothly.

Her potty routine has changed quite dramatically since starting in the 2′s room.  Now all diaper changes occur standing up and in the bathroom.  We go to the bathroom, she pulls down her pants, takes off her diaper, throws it away (if it isn’t super dirty), walks over to the potty, sits for a minute (just sits, she doesn’t actually use the potty yet), wipes herself with tp, and then comes over to me.  We throw the tp in the actual toilet, flush, and put on a diaper while she is standing up. Then we wash hands. She absolutely HATES having her diaper changed while on her back now.

I think she went through a little growth spurt recently too.  She seems taller.

Happy Easter

Morgan loves her first Easter card…

Morgan had a great day!

She was in the Two’s Room almost all day today. We dropped her off in the One’s Room, but she went over to the Two’s at 9:30 and stayed there the rest of the day (including nap).

They went on an Easter Egg hunt on the Ellipse and Morgan had a great time. She absolutely loved it. She went down for her nap without any fussing, was a good listener, and played nicely. No tears! Even when Miss Parwin came in to give her a hug and kiss, no tears at good-bye!

Needless to say, good news all around.
