Stringing together words

As we were getting out of the car last night after work/daycare, Morgan turned and waved to the car and said ‘bye-bye car.’  Definitely the first time she has strung together words like that, unprompted and on her own.  She did it again tonight. ‘Bye-bye car.’  I tried to get her to say ‘Bye-bye Dad’ at bedtime, but no dice.   (You may recall I once prompted her into saying ‘down please’ but that was after much repetition and prompting, all within a 2-3 minute span.)

She is starting to use ‘please’ quite a bit more.  And she now has a hook in her room from which she retrieves her jacket in the morning and hangs it in the evening.  She still pushes in her chair after meals.  And she has recently been put in charge of putting her dirty clothes in the hamper.

Photos

A couple years ago, long before Generous George’s closed, they managed to sell a franchise to someone who opened one out by Dulles Airport. Last weekend we took the long trek to see how good a copy it was. We were generally pleased.

Working on some new and bigger words

Elephant and hyena

She’s even started using Mama occasionally. At most once a day, when I walk into daycare. Never (or rarely) at other times and not every day.

Potty in the house!

We went to a baby store last weekend and Morgan was walking past an endcap with potties on display.  She started yelling ‘potty, potty, potty’ and took one off the endcap and sat on it.  Then she took a stack of two off the endcap and sat on them.  She couldn’t quite get up onto the stack of three (she did try though).  Needless to say, we bought the potty.

She hasn’t used it yet.

Cleaning up while opening a gift

For those who know Morgan, this won’t be unexpected but is kind of funny. The first gift she opened on Christmas took forever because she would tear off a little piece of wrapping paper then run throw it the trash (she REALLY likes cleaning up). We eventually got smart and moved a trash can next to the gifts for subsequent gifts.
