New skills
She stands on her tiptoes, she is learning how to kick a ball, and she almost runs. She definitely hurries, but I’m not sure the gait is officially a run. She’s moving faster and faster though!

Festival season is, alas, winding down.
Last weekend was the Maryland Renaissance Faire. This weekend was “Clarendon Day” in Arlington. Bonus shot of Morgan making sure the late-season tomatoes are doing alright.
Morgan and I came home from daycare last night, I fed her (she’s usually pretty hungry), and was getting her stuff together for bath time. (Jim is out of town for a couple of days, so it was just the two of us). Anyway, while I’m getting her stuff together she walks over to the diaper changing area, puts her hand on the diaper mat (which was laying on the bed), and stands there, looking back over her shoulder at me. I say “do you want a diaper change?” and approach her, diaper in hand. She looks up at me and says ‘up,’ but isn’t asking me to pick her up and hold her, she wants me to pick her up and put her on the bed. So I do. And I change her diaper while she waits patiently for me to be done.
She says “hi” and “up”, claps and stomps when the music tells her to, knows that ducks say “quack” and fish say “mpwy mpwy mpwy” (not to mention recognizing them in photos), says “open” and “ball” and “bye”.
Enjoy.

Upon arriving at Generous George’s for dinner Friday night, we were informed that the staff were just informed that they were closing in 48 hours! To say it was a favorite with Morgan would be an understatement; including our 3 trips this weekend, Morgan has been there 25 times since birth.
For the few readers who have never been there with us, you may remember George’s from such past posts as:
Drinking from a straw (Sep 2009)
Father’s Day (Jun 2009)
Photopalooza (Feb 2009 – First time eating out in a high chair)
As noted before, Morgan says ‘up’ pretty clearly. She now has a pretty distinct version of ‘open’ going (as in, open the door to the balcony, open the can of tennis balls). And I think she is getting ‘down.’ ‘Up’ and ‘open’ she will use independently (i.e., unprompted) to tell you/ask you to do things. ‘Down’ she seems to say sometimes after I get her down from a chair or whatever, possibly only repeating me.
She says ma-ma a lot. It seems to mean ‘cup.’ sigh.
Was this post about Morgan starting daycare.
Here’s Morgan in her then brand new commuting stroller that day vs. a few weeks ago:
Got it on the first try… of course, it was the first time in memory we didn’t have a camera with us, so captured this on Molly’s phone.

Face planted on the sidewalk. Of course, while holding my hand, so I felt pretty bad about it.
Once the blood stopped gushing (and man do lip lacerations gush!) it looks like no big deal.
