Shopping mall Santa Claus

If you know us, you know we couldn’t stay away from the shopping mall Santa with a new infant at home.

Beginning to experiment with stepping

Morgan has been ‘standing’ for awhile now.  She puts her feet down and supports a substantial amount of her own weight on them when being held.  But in the last couple of days she has started to experiment with picking her feet up and moving forward a bit.  She’s still a long, long way from walking (or even standing on her own), but it is fun to watch the incremental changes.

Slept through the night last night…

Morgan went down last night around 7, woke up about 12:30, ate, and then slept through until 7am.  Perhaps more importantly, yesterday wasn’t a particularly exhausting or unusual day.  She missed a couple of night time feedings earlier, right after starting daycare, but I suspect she was just exhausted then.

We’ll see what happens tonight.

Morgan goes to Philly

Morgan’s furthest trip from home so far was this week — 142 miles to Philadelphia.

It may have been coincidence (that is, she may not have realized it was food), but Morgan tried to reach for adult food for the first time while there.  She has been eating for a couple weeks now, and greatly anticipates the spoon before it reaches her, so there is reason to suspect she knew.  Whenever we ignored her for a moment, she would try to grab one of the cheesesteaks.  Good girl.

Morgan’s first food photos

Photos, photos, photos

Faithful readers were undoubtedly expecting feeding stories and videos, but recent illness and fussiness (more teething?) has led us to postpone solid food day.  Soon, soon…

Meanwhile, here are photos from the last couple weeks.

Busy Times

Always changing…

  • We put in a major effort to turn Morgan’s room from “extra storage room” to “Morgan’s room” this weekend
  • Morgan slept in her own room in her crib last night
  • Last week we stopped supporting her head while carrying her or holding her
  • Last week she began tolerating staying on her stomach (would lay her head down and rest it when it got tired instead of fussing).  She now actually prefers laying on her stomach to her back.

Tonight we’re going to try solid foods.
