First tooth!

Her first tooth is coming in.  Apparently her daycare providers noticed on Monday and thought I knew (which I didn’t).  And apparently Jim noticed yesterday and forgot to mention it.  Her daycare providers pointed it out to me this morning.  I can’t believe it.  It’s all so fast.

Ed. Jim  – it’s hard to see in the photo because so many reflections look like bright/white lines (ignore the bright white spots on her lips’ far right, those are reflections).  I uploaded this photo at full size — I find in Firefox it takes 3 clicks on the photo to get to the full resolution (the first shows a larger photo in the blog frame, the second shows the photo alone fitting in the browser window, the third zooms the photo alone to full size).  it’s the thin gray line on the bottom gum just to her right side (your left) of the center of her mouth.

Four Month Well-Visit

Morgan had her 4-month birthday two days ago.  To celebrate, yesterday we went to the doctor and got more immunization shots.

He seemed very pleased with her growth.  Here are the stats…

Weight: 12 lbs, 15 oz (45th percentile)
Height: 25 1/2 in (85th percentile)
Head: 16 3/4 in (80th percentile)

We are supposed to start solids between 5 and 6 months of age.  He noted that she has dry skin and gave us some suggestions as to how to treat it (use gentle soaps, moisturize after baths, etc.).  Apparently he isn’t a huge fan of humidifiers, as they tend to generate molds and such.  Regarding her flat spot, he did not seem to think she was in need of a helmet.  Though he did stress that she really should be on her stomach whenever awake now.  That will take some getting used to for everyone.

The People’s Marathon

We walked Morgan down to watch the Marine Corps Marathon today (which runs through Crystal City, just a couple miles from home).  We had her out for about four hours total, so she needed to eat, get changed, and took two naps.

Morgan Napping at Home

She did not wake up between these two photos.

I don’t think she likes the light..

Morgan bundled for a chilly (40 degree) morning commute

I have no idea what we’re going to do when we go to SD in December to visit Grandparents Dahl.  It is actually cold there.

Visit from Great Aunt Eva!

Notice the cool Vikings gear Morgan is wearing.  She’s concerned it makes her look a little man-ish, but one has to support the team!

Tummy time is much less traumatic nowadays

You even get a little bit of her pulling herself forward in one, and a near rollover in the other.

Morgan learns to go ‘pbhht’

She stopped doing this as much, but it greatly amused her (and us) for about 3 or 4 days.

First head bump (of many)

Morgan had her first of many head bumps this weekend.  I put her on her tummy on her activity mat (as an aside, tummy time is becoming *much* less traumatic for her) and left her to herself.  She started pulling herself along (pretty cool!) and was half on the mat and half on the wood floor when she inadvertantly flipped herself and bumped her head on the wood floor.  There was much screaming for just a few minutes and all was well again.

Fall festival

By popular demand, more photos.  Morgan went to the Cox Farms Fall Festival yesterday with Small Savers (as did Molly and Jim).  There are hayrides, a corn maze, lots of animals, lots of pumpkins, but for an infant it’s basically a giant photo op.  We did our best.
